Nick Hein announces retirement after UFC Stockholm

0

Alexander Gustafsson wasn’t the only veteran hanging up the gloves on Saturday.

Lightweight Nick Hein also announced his retirement after UFC Stockholm, albeit in a more low-key fashion as he simply wrote a brief Facebook post to mark the end of his 10-year pro MMA career:

20 years of Judo. Ten years in the national team.

One decade of MMA, 5 years in the UFC.

I am ready for the next chapter.

Thanks to everyone.

I am looking for the future.

Hein ended his run with the UFC on a three-fight skid, including Saturday’s second-round TKO loss to Frank Camacho. He went 4-4 inside the Octagon and 14-5 (1 NC) overall after making his pro debut back in August 2009.

The 35-year-old fighter is a former police officer and an actor back in his native Germany. His brother-in-law is UFC lightweight Drew Dober, who married Hein’s sister after he and Hein fought at UFC Berlin five years ago.
