CEB Cup 2019: VOITH Heidekoepfe, Draci improve to 2-0 after day two

In Group A at the CEB Cup 2019 in Brno the Zurich Challengers reached the win column on Thursday with a 5-3 win in ten innings over Vindija Varazdin. Zurich won the extra inning 3-1 to claim victory, their first in the tournament. Meanwhile the VOITH Heidenheim Heidekoepfe improved to 2-0 with a 20-0 blowout against Minsk. Logan Grigsby struck out ten in five scoreless one-hit innings. Gary Owens led the offense with a home run and four RBI.

In Group B Draci Brno got its second win in as many games with a 10-0 shutout against BioTexCom KNTU. Jakub Hajtmar went 4-for-4 with a triple shy of the cycle. Zach Wilson and Petr Cech combined to drive in six runs. Ondrej Furko struck out 13 in seven scoreless innings. Earlier in the day the Montigny Cougars picked up their first victory with a 6-1 win over Astros Valencia. Dylan Mayeux homered and drove in four, as Montigny scored six runs in the seventh and eighth.
