The police officer who shot dead Sydney woman Justine Ruszczyk Damond outside her home in the US has been sentenced to 12.5 years in prison. Mohamed Noor was found guilty of third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter after shooting Ms Ruszczyk Damond, who had called 911 to report a possible sexual assault in an alley behind her Minneapolis home. The 33-year-old told the court he was sorry for 'taking the life of a perfect person'. Noor will have to serve at least eight years of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
