Arsenal ‘close to agreeing deal’ for goalkeeper Markus Schubert from Dynamo Dresden as Unai Emery nears first summer transfer
ARSENAL are on the brink of announcing Dynamo Dresden goalkeeper Markus Schubert as their first signing of the summer, according to reports.
Unai Emery has been in the market for a new stopper following Petr Cech’s retirement at the end of last season.
Schubert, 21, has come through the youth team at Bundesliga 2 side Dresden and is currently a Germany Under-21 international.
He had scouts watching him across Europe having been regarded as one of the best young keepers in Germany.
Arsenal will be delighted that they have managed to keep the deal under wraps although no official announcement has been made yet.
According to the Independent, Schubert will arrive as an understudy to current No1 Bernd Leno with the view of becoming first choice in the near future.
