Sandown tips, racecards, declarations and previews for the meeting live on Racing TV this Saturday June 15
THE build-up to Royal Ascot means Saturday’s action isn’t out of the top drawer, but there are still some fascinating races to get stuck into.
We’ve looked through the Sandown card and come up with some unmissable analysis for you to get stuck into.
Race 1 – 2.05 Randox Health Scurry Stakes (Listed Race)
Possibly the best race on the card begins proceedings and WELL DONE FOX should be able to bounce back to his best.
He’s had a run to blow away the cobwebs and on most of last season’s form he’s the one to beat in this lower grade.
He’s 1-1 over this C&D and with Silvestre up top can get the better of the progressive Street Parade, who ran to a high level at Windsor last time, and Pocket Dynamo, who’s dropping in class.
VERDICT – 1. Well Done Fox 2. Street Parade 3. Pocket Dynamo
Race 2 – 2.35 randox.com Handicap
A difficult contest to weigh up, with plenty coming into it out of form.
It’s been a long time since PETTOCHSIDE last won but he’s consequently dropped to a mark of 75, over a stone lower than when he was last successful.
With Cieren Fallon’s 7lb claim he’s too well-handicapped to ignore, particularly as showed a lot more zest last time out.
Fantasy Keeper only just lost out last time and will like the ground, while Wiff Waff shouldn’t be ignored despite throwing in a rogue one at Lingfield last month.
VERDICT – 1. Pettochside 2. Fantasy Keeper 3. Wiff Waff
Race 3 – 3.15 Randox Health Handicap
Another tough handicap where the one to appeal most is GREENSIDE.
Henry Candy’s eight-year-old ran a stormer at Epsom last time out to finish third and had previously won convincingly at Windsor.
He goes on this ground and doesn’t look handicapped out of things just yet.
Masham Star should run his usual good race, as should Hateya, who was slightly unlucky not to collect last time.
VERDICT – 1. Greenside 2. Masham Star 3. Hateya
Race 4 – 3.50 Randox Handicap
Only 8lb separates the field and this looks a real barnstormer of a race.
MAKE A WISH resumed with a good win upped to this trip at Redcar and can go on again now switched to handicap company.
He’s regally bred and a mark of 82 should be easy pickings if Silvestre De Sousa can get a tune out of him.
Wise Counsel could have more to come judged on the way he beat subsequent winner Angel Alexander two starts ago and Pesto is still far from exposed.
VERDICT – 1. Make A Wish 2. Wise Counsel 3. Pesto
Race 5 – 4.25 randoxhealth.com Handicap
Another three-year-old handicap that should see MUBARIZ strike.
He looked fairly average in his first couple of starts but produced a nice performance at Nottingham in October, winning very easily.
A mark of 89 could be tough enough but he looks progressive and could have a little too much ammunition now.
Multamis won well last time and is definitely of interest, while Cristal Breeze seeks a three timer and has a crack 7lb claimer up top.
VERDICT – 1. Mubariz 2. Multamis 3. Cristal Breeze
Race 6 – 5.00 British EBF Maiden Stakes
This isn’t a great maiden and gives NETTE ROUSSE a big chance to get off the mark at the third attempt.
She was much better at Sandown last time out behind a big improver and with even more progression to come, should able to strike here.
Two Bids could be worth following on debut from his powerful yard, while Damon Runyon should run his usual honest race.
VERDICT – 1. Nette Rousse 2. Two Bids 3. Damon Runyon
Race 7 – 5.35 Randox Food Handicap
The biggest field of the day and a race that will take some getting in the soft ground.
Perhaps Ivan Furtado can get the best out of BAYDAR.
His latest run was far more encouraging and his trainer is a master at improving horses from other stables.
Oi The Clubb Oi’s has a big shout from the bottom of weights and Elysees has claims in first-time cheekpieces.
VERDICT – 1. Baydar 2. Oi The Clubb Oi’s 3. Elysees
