fight for women’s rights

Re: “Biden now says he opposes ban on federal money for abortion” (Mercurynews.com, June 6):

I was very dismayed to read the article about Joe Biden supporting the Hyde Amendment, and how he has now apparently changed his mind and opposes it.

I do not believe this “change of heart” is mediated by anything other than political calculation, nor do I believe that Joe Biden will fight for women’s rights if elected president.

In stark contrast, Bernie Sanders has fought for decades for a woman’s right to choose, guided by the underlying moral principal that a woman has the right to control her own body.
