The Hong Kong Police held a press conference on June 13 that was attended by journalists wearing helmets and reflective gear in response to clashes that had occurred between police, extradition bill demonstrators and the media in previous days. Over the course of the conference, Hong Kong Police Commissioner Stephen Lo said that the police had used “low fatality weapons,” been “very restrained” in their approach and shared the same “vision in pursuing a stable environment in Hong Kong” as the protesters, according to Hong Kong Free Press. As of June 12, at least 81 people were injured in clashes between the police and demonstrators, South China Morning Post reported, citing the Hong Kong Hospital Authority. The Hong Kong Journalists Association condemned the police’s actions in a statement prior to the press conference, calling on attending journalists to wear helmets in protest. The journalists – more than 100 wearing helmets, masks and vests, according to the Post – can be seen in the final fifteen seconds of this footage. Credit: Hong Kong Police via Storyful
