Report: Atletico Madrid bid £49m for Spurs playmaker target – but something seems wrong
Tottenham Hotspur have yet to dip their toe into the 2019 summer transfer market, despite now going over 16 months without a senior signing.
However, if reports are to be believed, this isn’t through a lack of trying, as Tottenham have already had at least one bid turned down this window.
The BBC report that Tottenham bid £53m for Real Betis attacking midfielder, Giovani Lo Celso, last week, although the bid was rejected.
The report states that Lo Celso has a buyout clause of around £88m, hinting that Spurs are some way from the required bid.
The 23-year-old scored an impressive 23 goals and registered six assists last season for the Spanish club, often playing off a loan striker.
