2019 BET Awards: Winners List (Updating)
The 2019 BET Awards have begun, and this year’s host is “Insecure” and “Black Monday” actress Regina Hall.
As part of the year’s biggest celebration of African-American artists, entertainers, athletes and more, performers will be on hand to rock the house including Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus, Cardi B, Migos, City Girls, DJ Khaled, Kiana Lede, Lil Baby, Lucky Daye, and Mustard.
One of the night’s biggest awards is Best Actress. Last year’s winner, Tiffany Haddish, is nominated again this year — stay tuned to find out whether she will take home the prize for the second year in a row. Her competition includes the host herself, Regina Hall, as well as Taraji P. Henson, Viola Davis, Regina King, and Issa Rae. The BET website does not list which specific roles the actresses are nominated for.
Other big categories include Best Actor, the Young Stars Award, Best Movie, Album of the Year, and more. So far, rapper Cardi B has the most nominations of the night, with seven total nominations across five categories including Best Female Hip-Hop Artist and Video of the Year.
Four honorees will also be recognized tonight — late rapper Nipsey Hussle will be remembered with the Humanitarian Award; Mary J. Blige will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award; Tyler Perry will receive the Icon Award, and activist Chakabars will receive the Global Good Award.
