High school football: Frank Poso makes college choice
Branham offensive tackle Frank Poso decided not to wait until the start of this season to make a college decision.
The 6-foot-5, 320-pound Poso, who has a three-star rating from 247Sports.com, announced via Twitter on Sunday afternoon that he has committed to the University of Nevada.
“I’ve visited multiple times, and this weekend on my official visit it truly felt like home and the players and coaching staff were so supportive,” said Poso in a text to the Bay Area News Group.
Nevada was the first of five universities to offer Poso a scholarship, and that fact was not lost on him.
“Being my first offer really stood out to me and after this weekend, it just sealed the deal,” said Poso in a text.

Fresno State, William & Mary, Wyoming and New Mexico also offered scholarships to Poso, who worked hard to gain attention from college recruiters.
Poso had originally planned to go to many football camps this summer, but a tibia injury suffered at an Arizona State camp earlier this month altered his plans. He said in a text that he will not be competing in any other camps and that he just wanted to focus on his team and his senior season. He said that he expects to be practicing soon and ready for Branham’s opener this season.
In the tweet announcing his decision, Poso said, “First off I would like to give a huge shout out to the whole Nevada coaching staff for having me and my family out this weekend! I would also like to thank my coaches, teammates, and teachers from Branham high school for helping me become a better man. Last but not least I want to thank my family for always believing in me throughout the whole process! With that being said I would like to announce my commitment to the University of Nevada Reno! #GoPack #The Union.”
