Man United ‘desperate’ to offload 30-year-old forward this summer – report
Manchester United’s summer transfer plans are being hampered by the fact that they are struggling to find a buyer for Alexis Sanchez, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Express is reporting that the Red Devils are struggling to offload the 30-year-old forward, who has struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford since his move from Arsenal in January 2018.
Sanchez was widely considered to be one of European football’s top attacking talents from his time at Arsenal but he struggled for both form and fitness following his switch to Old Trafford.
He was limited to just nine Premier League starts and scored just one goal in the top flight for the Red Devils last term in what was a season to forget for the club.
According to the same story, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to make “wholesale” changes to his Manchester United squad this summer, but he is being held back by a lack of funds.
And that is in part down to Sanchez’s £500,000 a week wages at Old Trafford taking up lots of resources, according to the same article.
According to the article, Manchester United are even struggling to find a buyer for Sanchez from the cash-rich Chinese Super League – because of the attacker’s £25m a year wage packet.
