EastEnders spoilers: Max Branning and Mel Owen share a steamy kiss in the Vic as a jealous Rainie looks on
IT’S been a while since we’ve seen Max Branning at his womanising best, but that’s all set to change tonight as he locks lips with Mel Owen in the Vic – while his wife Rainie looks on.
Max and Mel have been tentatively circling each other for a couple of weeks as Mel’s plot to take down Max’s brother Jack has heated up.
Tonight Mel is feeling nervous as she prepares herself for son Hunter’s sentencing in his murder trial.
But after some words of support from Gray Atkins, Mel turns her attention back to Jack and her plan to fleece him of all his money.
As Jack and Mel discuss various investment options, they’re interrupted when Jack gets a call to say that his daughter Amy is unwell.
A savvy Mel spots an opportunity to be alone in the Branning house and offers to look after her.
Pleased with herself, Mel begins to go through Jack’s bank statements but is forced to cover when Max returns home unexpectedly.
Trying to hide her tracks, she agrees to go for a drink with him and – at the Vic – is pleasantly surprised when she sees a different side to Max.
Later, despite Mel’s initial reluctance, the pair share a passionate kiss while a jealous Rainie watches on, reeling with humiliation.
It was reported earlier this month that Charlie Winter who played Mel’s murdering son, Hunter, will return to the soap for his character’s last scenes this summer.
Charlie was spotted filming at Elstree for scenes expected to air later this year.
Soap bosses have been keeping tight-lipped about what brings Hunter back to the show after his dark murder twist earlier in the year.
Hunter is currently locked away behind bars after shooting his stepfather Ray Kelly dead in the BBC soap’s dramatic New Year storyline.

He was last seen on screen on April 12, when his mum Mel paid a visit to him and urged him to stay strong.
Mel promised she would visit him every week and would be working on a revenge plan to make Jack Branning pay for sending him to prison.
Charlie joined the cast of EastEnders in early 2018 and played the role of Mel’s troublesome son for just over a year.
Hunter ended up killing Ray after a dramatic confrontation between Mel and Ray in some woodlands over the New Year.
