Man United close to completing second summer signing in £42.5m deal – report
Manchester United are on closing in on the £42.5m signing of Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka, according to a report in England.
The Daily Mail is reporting that Manchester United and Crystal Palace have moved closer in their valuation of the England Under-21 international.
The same article states that the two Premier League sides held extensive talks on Friday about the 21-year-old ahead of a potential summer deal.
According to the same story, Palace are looking to secure a £60m deal for Wan-Bissaka so Manchester United could pay £42.5m up front before including a number of add ons to take the overall value to £60m.
The Daily Mail go on to add that Wan-Bissaka will form “a centrepiece” of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s revamp of the Manchester United squad.
Wan-Bissaka would be tasked with replacing Ashely Young at right-back after Ecuadorian full-back Antonio Valencia left the club earlier this month.
Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot would also be competing with Wan-Bissaka for a starting spot in the Manchester United team next term.
The Red Devils signed Wales international Daniel James in a £15m deal from Swansea City earlier this month to start their summer spending.
Manchester United finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a spot in the Champions League.
