Albert Khoudoyan arrested in RF: lawyers think the case was “ordered” and draws parallels with Levon Hayrapetyan’s case
Last week owner of Optima Development, Armenian businessman Albert Khoudoyan had been arrested in Moscow. The court had ordained a house arrest against him untill August 14.
Khoudoyan is accused of hustling 3 land areas from one company, causing damage worth of 2 billion rubles. He may face ten years of imprisonment.
Albert Khoudoyan does not accept his guilt and according to his lawyer, the criminal case against him is “ordered”.
“The criminal case was filed mainly as an occupation tool for businessman’s actives. Main purpose of the actions is to pressure him, so he can make economically unfavorable decisions and pass his business”, said Alexander Karabanov, Khoudoyan’s lawyer.
Initially the court hearing had to be open, and then by the verdict, it became closed. Even witnesses were not allowed to enter.
Khoudoyan’s lawyer announced that the other person that had filed against his client, Govyadin, had demanded 100 million dollars for regulating the case.
