Ruiz: Joshua can only run around, he’s not good at boxing
Andy Ruiz says his rematch with Anthony Joshua will end the same as the first.
It’s no surprise that newly-minted heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr. would take great confidence from stopping Anthony Joshua in their first meeting — and he’s expecting for more of the same for their rematch which is expected to be held this fall.
Speaking on his expectations for the sequel, Ruiz says he’s now well aware of Joshua’s flaws and will once again expose them once they meet again.
“I know his flaws,” he told a news conference. “I can do a lot better. The only thing that he can do is just run around, he’s not good at boxing.
“The rematch is going to be the same. I am going to be more prepared and more ready. People thought I wasn’t going to do anything, I was too big, too overweight.”
Ruiz continues by saying that he’s going to come into the rematch in better physical condition than their first fight, at a better weight, and that it will show in the title defense. For now Ruiz and Joshua are still ironing out the details of their rematch, specifically where it will take place.
The two top choices for a location are still said to be in either New York (where Joshua lost all his titles) or back in the U.K, with the venue announcement expected to come soon.
