CHELSEA legend Michael Ballack is currently taking his coaching courses in Wales – after hinting he could join Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge next season.

Derby boss Lampard, 41, is the front-runner to take over from Maurizio Sarri in West London next season – after the Italian quit to join Juventus.

Ever since, a host of former Blues stars have been linked with a return to West London – including Didier Drogba.

Now, German legend Ballack has revealed he is undergoing work for his Uefa B Licence, suggesting he could be in line for a new gig at Chelsea.

On top of that, the Stamford Bridge cult icon wished Lampard a happy birthday last week, commenting that he would “see him soon”.

Accompanying a picture of the two friends together, Ballack wrote: “Happy birthday @franklampard – have a great one… see you soon.”

On top of that suggestive post, the ex-Bayern Munich star shared a snap of himself in Wales as he works towards his first coaching badge.

MORR TO COME

Ballack explained: “Doing my UEFA B License #coaching Back to school #UEFA #BLicense”.

Lampard is set to be named Chelsea boss this week – with Derby assistant boss and former Blues team-mate Jody Morris following.

The ex-England star impressed in his lone season as boss of the Rams, taking the club to the play-off final, losing to Aston Villa.

Lampard is Chelsea’s record scorer with 211 goals in 648 matches and one of the Blues’ best players ever.

In his time at Stamford Bridge he won 11 major trophies, including three Premier League titles and the Champions League.

His record with youngsters – particularly with Chelsea loanees Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori – has convinced the Blues hierarchy he is the man for the job.

Chelsea will not be able to sign players this summer amidst their transfer ban – and will now need to make do without Eden Hazard, after the Belgian star joined Real Madrid.

Lampard relied on a lot of young players at Derby, while there is no man better equipped to assess Chelsea youngsters than Jody Morris.

Morris, 40, was assistant boss and then manager of the Chelsea Under-18s from 2014 to 2018.
