Farmers Only Weekend Harvest: Aristides Aquino Continues Crushing Baseballs
Also so does Ibandel Isabel.
Louisville Bats - Three Losses (28-47 Overall)
- Brad “Sharpie” Markey - 6 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
- Aristides “Heiress Titties” Aquino - 6 for 13, 3 HR, 4 RBI
- Josh “Hoosier” VanMeter - 5 for 13, 2 2B, 4 RBI
- Christian Colon hit a three run dinger on Saturday
Woah, this team is bad. Like really bad. The pitching, mostly the bullpen, was just a complete disaster this weekend. The hitting wasn’t that bad, which has been the story much of the year. But, even then the offense was streaky enough not to have too many players to really point out for a whole weekend of work. Aristides Aquino continues to beat the hell out of the ball and VanMeter left off right where he was in AAA. Louisville played a full double header on Saturday and had Sunday off which is kind of cool.
Chattanooga Lookouts - 2 wins, 1 loss (39-34 Overall)
- Packy “Wacky” Naughton - 6.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
- Jesse “Clutch” Stallings - 3 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
- Juan “Boring Name” Martinez - 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
- Wyatt “Earp” Strahan - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
- Mitch “Say Hey” Nay - 5 for 11, BB, 2 R
- Ibandel “Princess” Isabel - 5 for 12, 2 HR, 5 RBI
- Gavin LaValley - 4 for 11, 2 RBI, BB
- TJ Friedl hit a double and dingered on Sunday.
Chattanooga is a much better team and it shows when you look at the box scores. One, I get to list more players. Two, I actually get to list some pitchers. The Lookouts continue to keep their heads above water and are still the most exciting team in the farm system. Every night they give you some kind of reason to check on them. One thing that is starting to get discouraging is that Taylor Trammell did not play the entire weekend. Upon further research I was able to find out that he went on the IL on June 17th with a pulled hammy. That sucks. Isabel will continue powering the Lookout offense but it would be really nice to see Trammell continue to work through his struggles this season. That’s not going to happen with him on the IL, and hamstring injuries can be a real bitch.
Daytona Tortugas - One win, Two losses (38-34 Overall)
- Wennington “Winnington” Romero - 7 IP, 6 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K
- “Finding” Dauri Moreta - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K
- Stuart “Little” Fairchild - 3 for 9, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 3 R, 2 BB
- Alejo Lopez - 3 for 8, 2 R
- Scooter Gennett - 1 for 8, 2B
- Bruce Yari and Hendrik “The Mighty” Clementina both hit dingers on Sunday. Clementina’s was a three run bomb.
The Tortugas is one of those teams that to me is very boring. Shockingly, when I look at their record they actually win which is rare in this farm system. This weekend had it’s ups and downs. On Saturday, the Tortugas were no hit by a collection of Kyle Glogoski, Tyler Carr, and Keylan Killgore. Had that not happened there may have been some better news to report on the hitting front. But, that auto 0 for 4 really sunk some guys numbers and I’m finicky in who I put in here. Sunday was the day to shine for the Tortugas where they got a stellar start by Wennington Romero and knocked the ball around real well. Even if the bullpen almost blew it, it’s nice to see the team rebound after a no hitter.
Dayton Dragons - One Win, Two Losses (30-44 Overall)
- Eduardo “Ed” Salazar - 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
- Ricky “Spittin” Salinas - 5 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 7 K
- Eddy “Eduardoy” Demurias - 2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 1 K
- Carlos “Mask Of Zorro” Machorro - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
- Connor Bennett - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
- Adrian “Yo” Rodriguez - 3 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
- Pabel “Pepper” Manzanero - 5 for 13, 3 2B, 2 RBI
- Miguel Hernandez - 4 for 10, 2 RBI
- Morgan “Wonder Break” Lofstrom - 2 for 7, 2B, 3B, RBI, 2 R
The pitching really wasn’t that bad this weekend for Dayton but you have to hope to get more out of your offense. There’s very little power on the team and it really shows in the box scores. For some reason I attribute Daytona with being boring but I really should think that about this Dragons team. I wish there was more to say.
Billings Mustangs - Three Losses (1-8 Overall)
- Andrew “‘Ol” McDonald - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
- Jake “The Snake” Stevenson - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
- Ryan “Jackass” Dunne - 2 IP, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
- Jerry “Seinfeld” D’Andrea - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
- Nick Travieso - 2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1BB, 3 K
- Frainger “Danger” Aranguren - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
- Leonardo “Nasty Nati” Seminati - 5 for 11, HR, 2 RBI, 2 BB, 4 R
- Quin Cotton “Soft” - 6 for 9, 2B, RBI, BB
- Reniel “Kidney” Ozuna - 3 for 10, 2B, HR, 4 RBI
Do you remember how much it sucked when the Reds started 1-8? Well, the Mustangs get to feel that feeling too. Mostly, their plight has been due to extremely bad pitching. I did my best to list as many relievers that were good as possible. There was some decent hitting for the weekend, and some guys that just barely missed this list. The highlight to season so far has been Leonardo Seminati who is a 20 year old from Italy. You don’t see many players from Italy.
Greeneville Reds - Two Wins, One Loss (3-3 Overall)
- Tanner “Hide” Cooper - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K
- Alec “Big” Byrd - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K
- Evan “Lenny” Kravetz - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K
- JC “Penny’s” Keys - 3 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K
- Tyler “Loose Lips” Garbee - 3 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
- Raul “William” Wallace - 2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K
- Jose Salvador - 4 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
- Randy “Marsh” Wynne - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
- Matt “Fish” Gill - 1 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
- Quinten “Snacks” Sefcik - 2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K
- Christian Olivio - 4 for 10, 2 2B
- Some guy by the name of Justin Gomez knocked a dinger on Saturday
There’s always going to be a ton of pitchers listed for Billings an Greeneville. Their rosters are just so big. Again, the hitting was wishy washy for the Reds but they got it done. There wre some guys that had better days but went 0 for 4 on the next day. Seems to me like a lot of the players are getting two days on and one day off which makes sense since they are so green. Not much else to report.
