Danyliuk discusses energy security issues with US diplomats
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Oleksandr Danyliuk has discussed energy security issues with Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Energy Resources Kent Logsdon and U.S. Chargé d’Affaires a.i. in Ukraine William B. Taylor.
“During the meeting the sides discussed Ukraine’s energy security, including the activities of NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy, nuclear energy in Ukraine and prospects for cooperation in this sphere,” the NSDC’s press service said.
Danyliuk noted the importance of diversifying sources and supply routes of natural gas to Ukraine, as well as improving the country’s energy infrastructure.
Logsdon expressed support for Ukraine, including ramifications of the Nord Stream 2 project for Europe.
According to him, this is a geopolitical project that threatens Europe’s energy security.
Logsdon assured Danyliuk of continued broad support for Ukraine in its quest to become energy independent.
