Fashion designer, 32, BIT a cop and yelled ‘you’re dealing with a celebrity’ in drunken rage

A FASHION designer bit a police officer and screamed at him “you’re dealing with a celebrity” in a drunken rage.

Charlotte Laudat, 32, was spared jail for the attack in Sherington, Buckinghamshire, despite it breaching a suspended sentence she was already serving for an attack on her ex-husband which left him in a wheelchair.

Charlotte Geneva was subsequently arrested at the scene and taken into custody, following the late evening incident

Ms Laudat, who now calls herself Charlotte Geneva, had been celebrating her 32nd birthday, and drunk a lot of alcohol before her attack on the policeman.

Officers had arrived at her Buckinghamshire mansion, to deal with a “domestic incident”.

Judge Catherine Tulk told Aylesbury Crown Court they found her with her 14-week-old baby and 14-year-old daughter, and tried to “diffuse the situation”.

But Charlotte descended into a state of of visible and erratic distress as they tried to calm her down.

The court was told of her foul-mouthed tirade at police. She bizarrely shouted: “You’re dealing with a celebrity!” as she screamed, swore and thrashed around.

‘PRETTY GREAT BIRTHDAY’

Judge Catherine Tulk addressed Geneva with the question: “You had a pretty great 32nd birthday, one way or another?”

Charlotte replied: “One way or another, yes.”

Footage shown to the court captured Police Constable Rakesh Phakey restraining Geneva, before she bit his left bicep in front of his stunned colleagues.

She was subsequently arrested at the scene and taken into custody, following the late evening incident which took place on December 7 2018.

Geneva was previously spared a sentence after she slashed her previous husband Simon Laudat eight times across the face, after finding naked pictures of a woman in her 70s on his phone.

Blackfriars Crown Court heard she had told him: “You are going to die tonight”, before she pulled out scissors and slashed his face eight times.

I can fully understand why you had turned to alcohol – not for entertainment, but as a crutch to get through a very time in your life

Fearing for his life, Simon jumped out of the window. He was left in a wheelchair following her assault.
She was handed a suspended sentence following that attack – and it was that sentence she breached in her drunken assault on PC Phakey.

Defence lawyer Tyrone Smith QC recalled a traumatic experience Charlotte endured – at the judge’s request – in the weeks leading up to the incident.

He claimed it left her vulnerable to the arrival of police officers at her home.

He described Charlotte as a talented woman – a former child actress, a successful children’s fashion designer and skilled businesswoman, who needed real support and help to fight her demons and fulfil her potential.

Judge Tulk said: “The fact it was committed during a suspended sentence order was an aggravating factor, as was the fact you had been drinking heavily. The drink was not just because it was your birthday – but there are clear underlying causes why you had been drinking.

“There are older, deep-seated causes, but in particular, the incident that had taken place at your home had left you suffering PTSD and I can fully understand why you had turned to alcohol – not for entertainment, but as a crutch to get through a very time in your life.”

Geneva had earlier admitted one charge of assaulting an emergency worker and was heard quietly sobbing as the judge read out her sentencing remarks.

Judge Tulk handed her a 12 month community order including 12 rehabilation requirement days and 40 hours unpaid work, as well as the requirement to complete the conditions from her previous suspended sentence.

Geneva was also required to pay £100 compensation to the victim, £510 prosecution costs and she was handed a £200 fine.

Charlotte’s defence lawyer Tyrone Smith emphasised the deep-rooted personal issues the defendant had struggled with for years and argued she had made real and sustained efforts to recognise her problems and deal with them since her dramatic arrest
