Arsenal fans wish Gunnersaurus happy 25th birthday and demand he replaces Mustafi as he’s ‘just hit his prime’
ARSENAL fans have wished Gunnersaurus happy birthday – and demanded he replace Shkodran Mustafi at centre-back.
The beloved Emirates mascot turned 25 yesterday and immediately faced calls to go into the starting XI because he is just “hitting his prime”.
There is no denying Gunnersaurus has aged well since the rest of his pals perished some 66 million years ago.
But it seems Arsenal supporters are so fed up with their defence that they’re now willing for a dinosaur to do the job.
In response to one user saying, “He’s at his peak, better start utilising him better”, one Arsenal fan posted back: “Better shout at CB than Mustafi.”
And replying to Gunnersaurus’ tweet wishing himself many happy returns, another wrote: “Can you play CB?”
A fellow fan wrote: “Gunnersaurus deserves the armband this year.”
And another joked: “Entering his prime now, will be expecting more of him this season.”
Reports last week claimed Arsenal want to offload German Mustafi, 27, but cannot find any interest for him, or Mesut Ozil.
Boss Unai Emery has just £45m to spend this summer after the Gunners failed to secure their spot in next season’s Champions League.

According to the Evening Standard, Emery is willing to get rid of the pair if he receives the right offers.
But it is reported that the Gunners have not yet been approached by any clubs that are interested in them.
Mustafi joined Arsenal from Valencia in 2016 and scored two goals in 31 top-flight appearances last season.
