Woman accused of ‘fishing for attention’ after sharing racy bikini selfie for body positivity
A FITNESS fan has come under fire for posting a bikini snap on social media trying to kick-start a ‘body positivity’ thread.
Val Addall, who regularly posts photos of her gym-honed physique, uploaded two photos of herself in a bikini on Twitter.
Valentina, who has more than 50,000 followers on social media, captioned the image: “Let’s do a body positivity thread, drop your pics so we can show sum love.”
She also tagged the brand she was wearing, Shein, and asked them to sponsor her.
Vals’ post has racked up nearly 42,000 likes, but people have called her out for attention-seeking.
Commenting on the thread, one person said: “No one’s saying ‘don’t post pics because you want an ego boost’.
“Everyone is entitled to do that.
“What’s being criticised is hijacking the term ‘body positivity’.”
Someone else wrote: “Let’s stop doing ‘body positivity’ threads centering people with bodies that receive the most positivity every day anyway.
“Just say you want more compliments and go.”
A third said: “I shouldn’t have to go through an entire thread to find a body that looks like mine.
“That’s the point. Body positivity thread yet it’s only the perfect looking bodies getting the top attention.
“I see nobody in this thread with scars, acne, or any kind of stretch marks.
“I just see a bunch of model looking people and it feels unreal as a body positivity thread.”
This person simply wrote: “They’re just fishing for attention.”
Despite people calling out Val for fishing for compliments, people did respond with their own bikini selfies, including men, plus-size women, those with disabilities as well as gym snaps.
One person added “Just came here to say that everyone on this thread right here is beautiful.”
