Motorcyclist airlifted after crash on Byron Highway dies
BYRON — A motorcyclist airlifted from a crash site on Saturday has died from his injuries, authorities said.
James Elizalde, 49, of Lemoore, collided with another motorcycle Saturday night around 10 p.m. on the Byron Highway at Bruns Road, officials from the California Highway Patrol and East Contra Costa County Fire Protection District said. The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office released Elizalde’s identity on Monday.
A helicopter took Elizalde to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek after the wreck.
The other motorcyclist involved in the crash declined medical treatment, fire spokesman Battalion Chief Jeff Burris said.
The CHP investigated the crash but has not said what caused the two motorcycles to crash.
