BART Trans-Bay Tube trespassers arrested

SAN FRANCISCO — A San Francisco man and woman were arrested Sunday night after they walked into BART’s Trans-Bay Tube from the Embarcadero Station, authorities said Monday.

They were not injured and train service was delayed more than 10 minutes, officials said

BART police began searching for them about 9:46 p.m. Sunday after getting reports they had entered the tube.

BART spokesman Chris  Filippi said Monday  the pair made it about 150 feet into the tube toward Oakland but said they “didn’t appear to be interested into going much further.”  They did not resist police he said.

Police identified them as  Christopher James, 36, and Susannah Berran, 34, both of San Francisco.  Filippi said they had apparently met earlier in the day but why they decided to enter the tube was not immediately known.

They were both arrested for interfering with a railroad operation. James was also arrested on suspicion of possession of  methamphetamine and two outstanding warrants.
