PHOENIX PETROLEUM 2019 STV ARCC FLAGS OFF AT CLARK GLOBAL CITY

The 2019 STV Auto Rally Corporate Challenge (ARCC) took to the road on June 15, flagging off at one of the fastest-growing cities in the country, Clark Global City in Pampanga. This year’s much-awaited staging of the annual STV-ARCC was powered by Phoenix Fuels with Pulse Technology, and in cooperation with NLEX Corporation.

For 11 consecutive years, the STV-ARCC has seen the local auto industry come together for a day of fun competition, camaraderie, discipline, and love for motor sports. All of this is rooted from STV’s first attempt to revive the Sampaguita Rally in 2001. In 2009 and all the years that followed up to this day, the STV-ARCC has made its name as one of the biggest promoters of the motor sports scene in the country.

This year, 30 brand new car models fielded by 10 car manufacturers’ and distributors’ Rally Teams showcased on the starting grid. Leading brands that joined the rally this year were Ford, GAC, Honda, Isuzu, JAC, Lexus, Maxus, Mini, Subaru and Volkswagen.

For this year’s “on time, all the time” competition, the participants took the roads of Clark and nearby Pampanga towns. The scenic and challenging routes were brought by the reliable, perennial top-notched Rally Director Georges Ramirez, assisted by his lovely wife Caroline and IT expert Patrick Chua.

Heating up this year’s staging was the benchmarking of participating cars’ fuel performance while on “rally mode.” To achieve this, participating vehicles gassed up on “automatic full tank” with their odometer reading registered and gas tank sealed before the rally. A post rally gas up similarly on “automatic full tank” with another odometer reading was done to determine actual fuel consumption and distance travelled.

The rally route also included a couple of drive-thru to toll plazas for the rally participants to experience firsthand the present seamless travel through the different world-class toll ways, while traversing to and from Clark.

As usual, considering that a major part of the competition was held in public roads, the rules of the road rally required very strict adherence to road safety and driver discipline, making it one of the major projects of its organizers, Sunshine TV and Socio Com Foundation in their advocacy to promote road safety. It is part of their fund-raising initiatives to support the Young Street Smarts Road Safety School Tour project that conducts free road safety seminars and workshops for graduating high school students, to make them safe and responsible road users.
