[Women's Outdoor Track & Field] Hoins Named First Team Academic All-American
On Monday, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced the 2019 Google Cloud/CoSIDA Academic All-American Team for cross country/track and field in the NAIA division. On the team was Doane senior Jaysa Hoins (SR/Superior, Neb.). She received First Team honors after being tabbed an Academic All-District 3 performer earlier this year.
Hoins extends an impressive mark for the Doane women's program, as the Tigers have placed at least one member of the CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American list for eight consecutive years, dating back to 2012. Hoins graduated from Doane in May with a degree in biology and a grade point average above a 3.90.
In addition to excelling in the classroom, Hoins was equally as strong in competition. A three-time NAIA All-American in the triple jump, Hoins helped pace the Tigers to a fourth place finish at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships in 2019.
During her senior campaign, Hoins placed 5th during the NAIA Indoor Championships and 6th at the NAIA Outdoor Championships in the triple jump. She earned two conference championships during the outdoor season by winning the long jump and triple jump. During the indoor conference championships, she placed 5th in the long jump and 2nd in the triple jump to earn All-GPAC honors. Hoins finished her career as a 12-time All-GPAC performer in the long and triple jump.
