A series of powerful explosions thundered in an ammunition depot
Residents of the city of Arys, located in the Turkestan region of Kazakhstan, were forced on Monday morning to hastily leave its borders because of the powerful explosions in the adjacent military unit. Eyewitnesses filmed a postapocalyptic situation in the 45,000th city.
The first message about the explosion came at about 09:20 local time (06:20 Moscow time). The footage shows a fiery mushroom that has risen to the sky a good hundred meters, the blast wave from which poked the glass in the nearby houses. The first bang was followed by a whole series of explosions, and the locals rushed away from the city with documents and essentials.
Initially, it was reported that a fire followed the explosions, but later the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan clarified that the fire was preceded by a state of emergency at an ammunition depot. According to preliminary data of the Ministry, no one was hurt as a result of the incident.
Now more than 70 people and 16 fire engines are working on the site, a cynological squad is involved in the search for people. The city declared an emergency.
