Child's Play Franchise: Chucky's 10 Most Memorable One-Liners
The beginning of the notably successful Child's Play franchise came in 1988. The original series consisted of seven films, all helmed by Don Mancini. Child's Play is one of the most famous horror franchises ever, and everyone - even those who aren't necessarily fans of macabre - undoubtedly knows the name Chucky.
The idea of an evil possessed doll running around and killing people wasn't even a very original plot back when the first Child's Play movie hit theatres, but Don Mancini managed to make this whole concept successful. The demented serial killer turned Good Guys doll gained such a cult following, that the series is widely regarded as immortal, and Chucky is inarguably a horror icon.
It seems that we will not be seeing the end of our favorite supernatural doll anytime soon, as Lars Klevberg's remake has just hit theatres, and original creator Don Mancini will be running a Child's Play TV series that is set to air in 2o20.

10 "SOMETIMES I SCARE MYSELF."
Throughout the several Child's Play installments, the character of Chucky became more fleshed out. In 2017, when Cult Of Chucky was released, the killer doll had become unapologetically sardonic, crude, and uncensored, to an almost ridiculous extent. That's why the fact that Don Mancini has taken to using self-aware humor in the Child's Play series is so beneficial.
Chucky doesn't take himself too seriously, and that's what we love about him. In a scene where he makes a particularly gruesome kill, Chucky says, "sometimes I scare myself", which is honestly the perfect line.
9 "WE'RE FRIENDS TILL THE END, REMEMBER?"
The Good Guys dolls have a series of automated phrases, and such have become some of Chucky's most famous lines. "Hi, I'm Chucky, your friend till the end", was one of the first things Chucky was heard saying to Andy in the original Child's Play movie. This catchphrase was a recurring one throughout the entire series of films, so of course, it became very well-known.
In one of the final scenes of the first movie, Chucky taunts Andy, saying, "we're friends till the end, remember?", to which Andy replies, "this is the end, friend". Of course, that definitely was not the end, but it was one of the most memorable scenes in the entire franchise.
8 "YOU HAVE A DATE WITH DEATH."
John Bishop was a character who appeared in the first Child's Play movie. He was nicknamed "Dr. Death", due to the fact that he dabbled in the art of voodoo. He was shown to be immensely interested in figuring out what Chucky was all about, and how he became a killer doll.
Unfortunately, John does not live to see any other installments of the film series. He meets his demise in the first movie, when he is killed by Chucky in one of the most creative death sequences the franchise has to offer. Before he executes John, voodoo style, Chucky quips, "you have a date with death".
7 "CHUCKY SAYS MOVE YOUR ASS!"
The second Child's Play movie hit theatres in 1990, in which Chucky makes his dramatic return and goes on a mission to find his original owner, Andy. When Chucky succeeds in this, he corners Andy, saying, “Okay, sport. We’re gonna have a little game of Chucky Says. Now Chucky says move your ass!"
This is another example of the fact that this psychotic doll has no shortage of sarcastic quips and remarks. He ceaselessly maintains his trademark humor, even in the darkest of times.
6 "WHAT'S SO GREAT ABOUT BEING A HUMAN?"
Chucky has a point with this line. In Seed Of Chucky (2004), the narcissistic doll makes that sardonic remark, “If this is what it takes to be human, then I’d rather take my chances as a supernaturally-possessed doll! It’s much less complicated! Think about it! What’s so great about being human? You get sick! You get old! As a doll, I’m infamous!”
This is one of the best quotes that originated from the Child's Play franchise, and that is surprising, since it took place in one of the worst installments.
5 "YOU JUST CAN'T KEEP A GOOD GUY DOWN."
In the third Child's Play movie, which premiered in theatres in 1991, Chucky once again succeeded in hunting down a now almost grown up Andy. Chucky makes a dramatic scene of approaching Andy, who is shocked to see that Chucky is back again.
"You just can't keep a good guy down", Chucky says proudly. This quote remains true throughout the entire film series, and is a nod to Chucky's supernatural immortality.
4 "PRESTO! YOU'RE DEAD!"
This line is so simple, yet so iconic. Virtually every hardcore Chucky fan remembers this scene, in which Chucky's disturbed sense of humor is put in the spotlight. The scene presents Chucky as he pretends to be an inanimate object, only to lure a man into getting close enough to make it possible for Chucky to slash his throat.
This particular moment also includes Chucky's signature, completely unsettling, evil laugh, after he victoriously shouts, "presto! you're dead!".
3 "I ALWAYS COME BACK!"
In 1998, the fourth installment of the Child's Play series was created. Bride Of Chucky is known as one of the weaker movies of the franchise, especially since it includes not one, but two crazed killer dolls. Chucky's sense of humor is fun in small doses, but after a while, it becomes a little dull and overdone. Thus the failure of Bride Of Chucky, in which Jennifer Tilly stars as Tiffany. Once Chucky's wife is introduced to the series, the entire concept becomes quite ridiculous, and the humor gets rather annoying.
But this film did coin one of Chucky's most simple, yet very memorable phrases: “Go ahead and shoot! I’ll be back. I always come back!"
