Steph Curry promises Warriors will ‘chase more championships’

Steph Curry arrived in Tokyo on Sunday bearing gifts — none more valuable than his take on the Warriors.

“The story is still going,” said Curry, according to the Associated Press. “A lot of people said this is going to be the end, but I’m not going to let that happen. It’s going to be fun to come back and chase more championships next year and beyond.”

The Warriors earlier this month fell two victories short of capturing their third consecutive NBA championship. They will start the 2019-2020 season without Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson, who are looking at lengthy rehabilitations after major injuries. While Thompson (torn ACL) consistently says he wants to be a Warrior for life, no one is forecasting that Durant will play another game for the Warriors. In fact, most speculation and unsourced stories — which is all we have until Durant breaks his public silence — characterize Durant as upset with the Warriors‘ treatment of his calf strain, which turned into a full-blown rupture of his right Achilles.

Key second-line players Shaun Livingston and Andre Iguodala are nearing the end of terrific careers.

But first things first. On Curry’s first day in Tokyo he was greeted by screams and cheers, according to NBC Sports Bay Area, and visited an all-girls middle and high school. He gave on-court instruction, and met with two promising Japanese players, Hiroyuki Tominaga and Keijiro Mitani.

This trip is Curry’s third to Tokyo, and his fifth in Asia with Under Armour.
