Details of the Day
- The 10th place finish was Larson’s best career finish at Sonoma Raceway; and was the last track on the circuit, outside of the Roval, where was yet to score a top-10
- The No. 1 car had damage to the left rear quarter panel from on-track contact early in Stage 1 but fixed it under the Stage 1 caution
- Today was the final race of the season to be broadcast on FOX; next week the broadcast coverage switches to the NBC network
- The caution flag was shown only twice for the stage breaks, for a total of six laps
- The lead changed seven times among five drivers
Kurt Busch, No. 1 Monster Energy Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 – “Today’s race was a fight from the start. The car sustained some damage right when we took the green, but fortunately that didn’t hinder us too much in the first stage. We struggled to turn in the front the way I needed it to and had trouble over the curbing around the track. Without the caution coming out aside from the stage breaks, we weren’t able to work much on the car throughout the race to make it better. Not the day we wanted with the Monster Energy Chevy, but glad we hung in and got all we could out of the race. We will take the top-15 and look ahead to Chicagoland next weekend.”
MENCS teams will head to Chicagoland Speedway next week for the Camping World 400 on Sunday, Jun. 30. NBC Sports, MRN affiliates and SiriusXM NASCAR Channel 90 will have live coverage beginning at 3:00pm ET.
