ROMELU LUKAKU has put talk of his uncertain future at the back of his mind after returning to pre-season training early.

The Belgium striker is wanted by Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte on an initial two-year loan deal with a view to a permanent move.

The unsettled striker was offered extra time off from boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer along with midfielder Paul Pogba.

But while the Frenchman remained in New York to train, Lukaku opted to join the rest of his team-mates back in Manchester.

Pogba did show that he is ready to hit the ground running after showing himself running inside an empty New York Red Bulls stadium.

He was also in the gym to show Solskjaer that he is keeping in good shape during the off-season.

Back in Carrington, the hard work will now get underway ahead of a hectic pre-season that will see the squad jet off to Australia, China, Singapore and Wales.

Solskjaer – who arrived for work at 6.30am this morning – has sent out timetables to the players detailing their gruelling DOUBLE sessions for the first week of training.

The squad will be put through their paces with a session in the morning and afternoon for the first five days.

Solskjaer has been planning how to get his side into shape over the summer with the help from his backroom staff.

Despite the welcome break, there wasn’t many happy faces among the side as they arrived at the Carrington complex in their flash cars.

Midfielder Fred, Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling in particular looked far from happy to be seeing the back of their summer holidays.

United’s first game of pre-season will come against Perth Glory on July 13 and end with a contest against AC Milan on August 3.

Meanwhile United have been boosted by the news that Marcus Rashford has committed his future to the club.

The England man has apparently agreed a staggering £300,000-a-week, five-year deal after having just 12 months remaining on his current contract.
