Coronation Street’s Nick Tilsley accused by cops of causing factory collapse after his plan to prove he’s innocent backfires

NICK Tilsley is going to be investigated for sabotaging the factory roof in Coronation Street – and his desperate attempt to prove his innocence is going to backfire.

The businessman – who is played by actor Ben Price in the ITV soap – is fighting off accusations that he purposely damaged Underworld’s roof in order to collect a massive insurance payout for the struggling business.

However The Sun Online can reveal that things will soon get worse for Nick when he thinks he can prove his innocence – but it backfires and draws even more police questions.

A source exclusively told The Sun Online: “Nick is desperate when he realises the police are closing in on him – even though he is innocent.

“When he has nowhere left to turn he gets help from the most unexpected of sources – Beth Tinker.

“She has never been his biggest fan but her new interest in photography has her going through all her old photographs to try and put a portfolio together.

He will appear in court later this month charged with stealing Audrey’s money
Audrey is sickened by Nick’s actions and even she believes he sabotaged the factory

“And while she’s showing off her handiwork it becomes clear she was taking pictures the day of the factory collapse when Rana died.”

The insider added: “Nick sees himself jogging in the background of one of the pictures and thinks his luck has finally changed.

“He thinks he has found proof of his innocence and eagerly shares the picture with the police but it doesn’t clear his name – in fact it does the opposite.

“The police take the view that Nick was out and about when the roof was sabotaged so for them it points the finger at him even more leaving Nick in an even worse position.”

Viewers know how Gary Windass was the one to sabotage the roof in the hopes of drumming up more business from Carla Connor when he got into financial difficulty, and since then he has become the new villain.

He has so far been responsible for Rana Habeeb’s death in the factory roof collapse, and killing loan shark Rick Neelan in brutal scenes last month.

A Coronation Street spokeswoman declined to comment.
