Today’s free horse racing tips: Brighton, Hamilton, Chepstow and Stratford – Steve Mullen’s betting preview for Tuesday, July 2
BRIGHTON
2.00
HEDGING has gone close on his past two runs here and this slight drop in trip could do the trick. He was beaten in a head-bobber the last time he tackled this distance and should go very close.
Confrerie is the big danger going for a hat-trick of wins, all at Brighton. He is effectively 8lb higher today but could improve. Pearl Spectre was beaten here in a photo last Tuesday and has title-chasing Oisin Murphy taking over in the saddle.
2.30
KACHUMBA has been knocking on the door here with a couple of good thirds, both in higher class races than this. He has had a little help from the handicapper and should be right there again.
Precision Prince has been running well and first-time cheekpieces could ignite the spark he needs. Startego is another dropping in class after a fair effort at Hamilton and is respected.

CLARION made a good start with a close-up fourth at Newmarket before improving on that form when second at Goodwood last month. That was over a mile and she’s bred to improve for this longer distance.
Damon Runyon clocked a personal best when second at Sandown last time and has an experience edge over his rivals. Meqdam is well bred and should do better than his poor run at Nottingham last time.

ROCKSETTE should do a lot better with Tom Queally taking over from an inexperienced apprentice. She out in a solid effort at Windsor last time but is best over this course and distance. She has dropped to the same mark that saw her win a similar contest here in October and is capable of bouncing back.
With Approval didn’t fire here latest but went well over a mile when third in April and looks a contender. Sussex Girl ran better than seventh suggests here last time and has cheekpieces on for the first time.
4.00
OSHO made his handicap debut at Newmarket last time and went well over a mile, with this step up in distance looking sure to suit.
He can get the better of Crystal Tribe who won in a battle on the all-weather and should be capable of a bold show from just 4lb higher in the weights.
4.30
SONNETINA won well here two runs ago before finishing a solid second at Salisbury last time when not getting the run of the race. The handicapper hasn’t gone mad with her mark and she’s proven in this grade so won’t be far away.
Approve The Dream teams up with a capable claimer and didn’t seem to like the soft ground at Yarmouth latest after finishing a good second there. This quicker surface may suit better.
5.00
ARCHIMEDES is taking a drop in class after finishing a close-up fourth here last time from 3lb higher in the weights. He should also be happier over this slightly shorter distance.
Essaka is a model of consistency around here with a win and tight second from his past two visits, including last time out. He’ll be right there again, while Big Lachie carries a penalty for winning in good style at Bath last time and is a threat.
