Global markets rally and gold tumbles as investors cheer thawing in US-China trade dispute

The FTSE 100 index rose 1 per cent, or 71.87 points, to a more than nine-month high of 7497.5 points. The gains were mirrored on major benchmarks across Europe as well as in the US and Asia.
