Tameda batters Atsumi in 2 rounds!

0
Earlier today at Korakuen Hall Ohashi Gym put on a pretty interesting card with several notable names.

On paper the best match up on the show was a bout between hard hitting Japanese hopeful
Tsuyoshi Tameda (20-4-2, 18) [溜田剛士] and Japanese based Korean Tae Il Atusmi (16-3, 8) [テイル渥美]. On paper this was an amazing match up, and many attending the show likely expected this to out-shine the main event, which featured Japanese Light Welterweight champion Koki Inoue [浩樹井上].

Sadly it failed to be the competitive back and forth that we all wanted. Instead it was a demolition job from Tameda, who's power proved to be far too much for Atsumi.

Early on both men looked to establish their jabs but it wasn't long until the power of Tameda dropped Atsumi for the first knockdown of the fight, from a huge right hand. From then on it seemed like a case of "when" rather than "if" Tameda would win and Atsumi would be dropped for a second time before the end of the opening round. He made it out of the round but was dropped again at the start of the second round, with the referee saving Atsumi soon afterwards.

This didn't quite live up to the expectations we had, but was a thoroughly exciting affair, and the win is a massive one for Tameda, who has now scored back to back stoppage wins since being stopped last year by Hinata Maruta.

Sadly for Atsumi this loss will almost certainly end his hopes of getting a title fight before he takes part in compulsory military service for South Korea.
