Arsenal fans joke club ‘specialise in the embarrassing’ after rejected £40m Wilfried Zaha transfer offer
ARSENAL fans have branded their own club an embarrassment following their opening offer for Wilfried Zaha.
The Gunners have launched an official £40million bid for the Crystal Palace star with no players offered as part of the deal.
SunSport revealed the derisory offer is even spread out in instalments over a five-year period.
Zaha, 26, still has four years left on his Selhurst Park contract.
And despite making it clear to the club that he wants a move to the Emirates, Palace will not even consider his exit for such a fee.
Instead Roy Hodgson’s side wants around £80m for his signature and are supposedly “incensed” by the opening offer.
Arsenal fans have seen it all before – first with Luis Suarez before scrimping on Gonzalo Higuain.
The Gunners infuriated Liverpool when they bid £40m plus a penny for their former Uruguayan striker.
Following news that Palace have rejected their offer, one fan said: “We specialise in the embarrassing, aka 40+1 that not only does not get us the players we want but damage relationships with business partners.”
A second said: “Classic Arsenal transfer business then.”

Another joked: “I should try this. Walk into a Porsche dealership and tell them the car loves me and I want it but I can only pay £1000.”
And one other supporter claimed: “It seems fairly obvious that Palace’s primary issue with the £40m bid is the fact that it is structured as £8m paid yearly for 5 years.
“That is laughable and pretty embarrassing for Arsenal.”
