Princess Diana would have had a ‘tricky’ relationship with Meghan Markle and ‘wouldn’t have liked the control she has over Prince Harry’, claims royal author

GETTING along with your mother-in-law can sometimes prove tricky – and no more so than if you happen to find yourself marrying into the Royal family.

And while Princess Diana wasn’t able to have a say in her sons’ choice of brides, her thoughts on their future marital choices have been kept alive by her closest friends and advisers.

One woman in the know, Ingrid Seward, author and editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, has shed light on what the People’s Princess would’ve thought on son Prince Harry’s other half.

While she thinks Diana would have kept things to herself if she disliked ex-actress Meghan, Ingrid believes she wouldn’t have been pleased with her divorcee status amongst other things.

She told the Mail Online: “She might not have been happy for her son to marry someone who have been married before and was from such a different background.

“And she certainly would not have liked the control that Meghan has over Harry – I think they might have had a tricky relationship, therefore.”

The royal expert also suggested Diana would have been fascinated by Meghan’s troubles with her father Thomas Markle – wanting to know every detail.

Though other experts disagreed, with the former press secretary to Charles and Diana, Dickie Arbiter, suggesting she would have tried to stay out of Meghan’s private business.

Royal commentator Dickie said Diana would’ve been more concerned about Meghan’s life in the public eye, and while offering a helping hand, at times would have disapproved.

“Meghan’s baby shower probably wasn’t the right thing to do as far as presentation was concerned, so Diana would have talked to her about that,” he explained.

But despite what may have been their obvious differences, Ingrid, Dickie and other experts agreed Diana would have been a role model for Meghan.

Andrew Morton, Author of Diana: Her True Story, concluded: “I think Diana and Meghan would have got on like a house on fire – she would have seen somebody in Meghan she aspired to be herself.”

In other news, Meghan and Harry “can’t demand privacy for Archie while asking the public to fund their lavish lifestyle”, a royal commentator has claimed.
