Pan Am Players Won in Africa

Athletes from Peru and United States won gold medals at Benin International 2019.

Daniela Macias, Danica Nishimura, Howard Shu and Paula Lynn Obanana reached finals of the Benin International 2019, held in Cotonou, Benin, from June 27 to 30.

Peru’s duo Macias / Nishimura won the Women’s Doubles gold after defeat players from Nigeria, Iran and Egypt, winning the final by 21-19, 18-21 and 21-12 against Hany / Hosny (EGY) in 45 minutes of play.

Olympics Howard Shu and Paula Lynn Obanana won the crown in Mixed Doubles. They beat duos from Benin and Egypt reaching the finals where they overcome duo Low / Ma (AUS) in 2 straight games (21-12, 21-13).

Macias also took the podium in Women’s Singles after beating athletes from Benin, Nigeria and Iran, but falling in the Final against Thuzar Thet Htar from Myanmar in 3 tough games, thus reaching the silver medal.
