Ruben Loftus-Cheek ‘agrees new five-year Chelsea deal worth over £150,000-a-week’
RUBEN LOFTUS-CHEEK has reportedly “agreed a new five-year deal at Chelsea worth over £150,000-a-week”.
The 23-year-old is currently nursing a long-term injury but is expected to become a key figure for Frank Lampard when he returns.
The England midfielder may not play again this year after ruptuing his Achilles tendon playing in a Holocaust Memorial game in Boston in May.
However, Loftus-Cheek already proved himself at Stamford Bridge over the final months of the season and his new deal will be announced this week, according to the Telegraph.
The five-year deal could be worth over £150,000-a-week, a stunning increase on the £60k contract he signed with Chelsea three years ago.
Loftus-Cheek had another two years left on his current salary, but SunSport revealed earlier this year that the club were keen on extending his stay.
The Blues star then confirmed prior to his horror injury that he will stay in west London next season and had been hoping for a pay-rise.
The announcement that Loftus-Cheek had penned his long-term future at Chelsea is expected to coincide with Lampard’s appointment as manager.
Lamps is expected to be announced as Chelsea boss in the next couple of days after Derby gave him time away from training to secure the move.
The 41-year-old will return to the club where he lifted three Premier League titles, four FA Cups and the Champions League.
