Two Paras suffered racist abuse from squaddies with Nazi flags and photos of Hitler, tribunal told
TWO Paras suffered racist abuse from soldiers who had Nazi flags and Hitler pictures in barracks, a tribunal has heard.
Former private Hani Gue said that he and a colleague were called a “black c***”, “coon”, and the N-word.
Mr Gue told how he saw fellow Paras on Facebook posing with former English Defence League leader Tommy Robinson.
He also said the door to his barracks room was often defaced with racist slurs, beer and urine.
Mr Gue said: “These events had a significant impact on my feelings that racism was systemic within the Army and nothing was being done to tackle it.”
Mr Gue said most of the abuse happened when he was with A Company of 3rd Battalion, the Parachute Regiment — some of it from higher ranks.
He had joined in 2012, saying: “I was inspired by the regiment’s history of fighting the racist Nazi regime in World War Two.
“Unfortunately, my experiences have led me to realise that the Army is not the honourable institution I once thought it to be.” Mr Gue, of Uganda, quit in 2018.

He said that his termination confirmation “did not state anywhere that my reason for leaving was due to racial discrimination or harassment and instead used terms such as ‘personal reasons’ and ‘perceived incidents’.”
Later, a photo of himself and Lance Corporal Nkululeko Zulu were defaced with swastikas and Hitler moustaches. Both men are suing for racial harassment and discrimination.
The Central London Employment Tribunal hearing goes on.
