Paul Gascoigne’s manager charged with drug dealing after major undercover police investigation
PAUL Gascoigne’s manager has been charged with drug dealing after a major police operation.
Shane Whitfield, 34, was one of six accused of conspiracy to supply Class A and B drugs.
He is also charged with conspiracy to produce cannabis.
England legend Gascoigne, 52, jokingly snogged his closest aide after a court hearing in January.
There is no suggestion Whitfield, of Oadby, Leics, has supplied drugs to Gascoigne.
But fears grew for the frail-looking 52-year-old ex-player in May when he was caught on video begging a fan for the Class A drug.
Alcoholic Gazza later posted messages from a Jacuzzi, telling well-wishers: “I love you all from the bottom of my heart. I am well and safe.”
A source told The Sun on Sunday: “The police went undercover for two years as part of the investigation into a major drugs ring.
“Whitfield is not only Gazza’s manager, they’re mates.
“They’re regularly seen out together at a local working men’s club and Gazza’s currently living at a property owned by Whitfield.
