Emmerdale fans in tears as Lydia reveals she delivered her stillborn son alone in the toilets at 15
EMMERDALE fans were left in tears as Lydia Hart revealed the details of her tragic stillbirth at the age of 15.
Viewers were horrified last week when Lydia was confirmed as the mother of the dead baby that was found buried in the grounds of the village school.
Now emotional scenes saw the distraught character tell Sam Dingle that she was forced to deliver her stillborn son alone in the care home toilets at the age of 15.
Flocking to social media, fans shared their heartache at Lydia’s plight, with one writing: “This storyline with Lydia is just heartbreaking.”
Another added: “These scenes between Lydia and Sam are making me emotional.”
A third said: “I’m in bits. Poor Lydia.”
Breaking down, Lydia wept as she revealed that she stole another girl’s identity to help escape the trauma – shocking when she handed herself into the police last week as they hunted for a woman called Jenny Finn.
She told Sam: “I got pregnant when I was 15, and had a baby, and I never told anyone until yesterday.
“I was daft and careless, stupid mostly. When I found out I was pregnant I thought they’d make me give it to someone else. Who’d let a 15 year old in care keep a baby?
“My mum had put me there, she wasn’t well, she cried too much and I don’t remember my dad.
“I had not thought past having it, I got a book from the library and scared myself stupid. I had this naive hope that when the time came I’d know what to do, only when it did it wasn’t like it was supposed to be.
“Nothing happened, my baby didn’t cry, didn’t look at me. I waited for it to, I held onto it so tightly, I tried my best to love some life into him.
“I thought it was my fault… I gave him a kiss and told him I was sorry, I knew I couldn’t stay there all night – I’d lied and locked myself into the top loo pretending I was being sick.
“I wrapped him in my jumper and I took him outside… There was some woodland nearby so I found a place for him, I didn’t know what else to do.
“I covered him over and walked away, just left him there with nothing – not a single thing to prove he existed at all.
“I was so scared they’d find out what I’d done, I packed a bag and asked the bus driver what was the furthest I could get on a Day Saver.
“I stopped telling people I was called Jenny, she was a girl I’d met: Lydia Hart.”

Karen Blick, who plays Lydia, previously told The Sun Online: “She took somebody’s identity, the circumstances of which will come out, the whys and wherefores of that.
“She assumed another identity. Lydia Hart was another person, and she assumed that identity and lived as Lydia.”
She added: “Punishment for Lydia is a massive thing. Confess, tell everything, it’s the whole idea that the truth will set you free – it’s so true for Lydia – but also not dragging the Dingles through the dirty with her.”
