Video: Jorge Masvidal drills flying knee two days before Ben Askren KO at UFC 239
Jorge Masvidal’s flying knee knockout of Ben Askren set a UFC record for the quickest knockout in the history of the promotion on Saturday night at UFC 239, but his choice of technique was no spur of the moment decision.
A day after the event, Masvidal’s coach, Mike Brown, released footage of “Gamebred” drilling the soon-to-be viral technique two days before he blasted Askren out just five seconds into their pivotal welterweight clash.

After a heated back and forth with Askren ahead of the contest, Masvidal appeared as though he was planning a tentative start as he leaned against the fence with his hands behind his back. Suddenly he made a beeline for Askren and connected with a flying knee that rendered the former ONE Championship and Bellator champion unconscious. The defeat marked the first of Askren’s professional career.
