Hosokawa and Tyson make weight!
Tomorrow at Korakuen Hall we'll see a new OPBF Middleweight champion being crowned, as former champions Shinobu Charlie Hosokawa (11-4, 10) [細川チャーリー忍] and Koki Tyson (14-3-2, 12) [太尊 康輝] battle for the currently vacant title, which was given up earlier this year by Yuki Nonaka (33-10-3, 10) [野中 悠樹].
Today, ahead of tomorrows bout, the two men took part in their weigh in.
On the scales Tyson was exactly 160lbs, the divisional limit, and he looked in good shape, though a little fleshy. He towered over Hosokawa and looked the naturally bigger man, despite lacking in terms of definition. Hosokawa on the other hand was 159lbs and looked to be the man in better shape for the bout, despite being the much smaller man.
At the weigh in Hosokawa spoke about the big body of Tyson, and it seems he has the intention of fighting his typical aggressive fight, rather than showing fear to the hard hitting man from the Kadoebi gym.
Interestingly Tyson himself didn't get a lot of time to prepare for this bout, essentially getting the chance when Nonaka vacated, and that could explain his conditioning, and explain why didn't look too comfortable making weight.
