Lady Captain Criona’s Results
LADY CAPTAIN CRÍONA’S COMPETITION was a 36hole hole event held over two days. This is the most anticipated Golfer of the Year competition with everyone hoping to play well and win one of Lady Captain’s Criona’s beautiful prizes. On 9th July the ladies arrived to be greeted by Lady Captain Criona and the day did not disappoint. The ladies were treated to cakes galore and the weather did not disappoint. Many thanks to Lady Captain Criona and her committee for all their hard work and making this day so enjoyable.
On day one the scoring proved to extremely competitive with numerous ladies in contention for the overall prize. It was clear that lots of ladies played well with excellent playing conditions on the course. On day two the excitement was palpable with the overall honours going to Maura Shelly. Maura said she went out after having a 76nett on day one and felt relaxed. She was thrilled with her performance on the course and came in on day two with a 68nett. Close on her heels was Mary Burlingham who was as cool as a breeze and shot a 66nett on day two coming in as overall runner up. Well done to all the lucky winners on Lady Captain Criona’s very special two days.
At the
presentation evening the ladies turned out in huge numbers and had lovely food
prepared by Eileen and her dedicated team. Lady Captain Criona looked stunning
and presented Maura Shelly with the overall prize. Maura spoke about how
delighted she was to win Criona’s prize.
She said this day will be etched in her memory forever. Lady Captain
Criona made an excellent speech thanking all who worked hard to make these days
so memorable. She thanked the Head Greenkeeper Damien English and his team for
all their work in getting the course ready for this major competition. She also
thanked the catering and bar staff for their commitment, courtesy and hard
work. Criona congratulated all the winners and in particular Maura Shelly in
winning the overall prize. She is looking forward to enjoying the rest of her
year as Lady Captain.
