But what happens if matches reach 6-6 in the final set and could the Wimbledon see another epic like Isner vs Anderson at Wimbledon last year?

Does Wimbledon have a fifth set tie-break?

Despite being thought of as the tournament most steeped in tradition, Wimbledon has decided to introduce a fifth set tie-break for men’s tennis.

But the system is a little bit different to other slams.

Players will play out the final set until one player is two games clear – all the way up to 12-12. A tie-break will then decide the winner.

How do fifth sets work at other grand slams?

For the first time ever, each grand slam in 2019 has a different method of deciding a fifth set.

In the Australian Open, a tie-break is used after 6-6, but played to ten points.

The US Open has had a fifth set tie-break played under the regular format ever since 1970, while in the French Open players are still required to play out the set until there is a winner by two clear games.
