cardi threatens to scupper Man Utd star Lukaku’s Inter transfer by refusing to leave club

MAURO ICARDI is threatening to scupper Romelu Lukaku’s move to Inter Milan by seeing out his contract with the Serie A giants until 2021.

That’s according to reports in Italy, where Argentina striker Icardi is said to be unhappy after being left out of Inter‘s squad for the International Champions Cup.

Inter insist the decision to send the 26-year-old home from the training camp in Lugano was mutual.

But La Repubblica claim Icardi responded by warning: “I’ll stay here for two years, take my salary and I won’t move.”

Inter are already struggling to fund their pursuit of unsettled Lukaku, 26, as Manchester United want £75million.

The Italians were also said to have had a player-plus-cash offer for United midfielder Nemanja Matic rebuffed.

Instead Inter went for Roma’s Belgium star Radja Nainggolan.

Lukaku, though, has suggested he still believes his transfer saga could be resolved soon.

After missing United’s 2-0 win over Perth Glory with injury, the Belgian told reporters of his future: “You will know something next week,”

Lukaku trained away from the rest of United’s squad after feeling a niggle in training.

Inter’s sporting director Piero Ausilio had earlier confirmed his club had made a formal bid.

He said: “It was an official approach between two important clubs. We’ll see what happens.”
