The Canadian women’s team fell to Russia in its first group match at the 2019 FINA World Championships in Gwangju. After a close first quarter, the Russians were brilliant on the counter-attack to show a 7-3 lead at halftime. Canada kept it close in the third quarter, but Russia capitalized on every occasion in the final quarter to record an 18-10 win.
