SIR Rod Stewart is backing The Sun’s Never Forget Them veterans campaign.
The rocker, 74, said: “Count me in! We definitely need to be doing more for them.”
Sir Rod spoke ahead of a gig in which he dedicated chart-topping ballad Rhythm Of My Heart to British forces veterans.
The Sun’s campaign has been launched to battle injustices against veterans and introduce a Minister for Veterans in the next Cabinet.
Rod told a crowd of 20,000 at the Lytham Festival in Lancs: “Three weeks ago I had the great pleasure of being introduced to some of the D-Day veterans.
“I’m going to dedicate this one to those guys, those precious men who gave their lives, the ultimate sacrifice, for our freedom.”

Last week The Sun secured the backing of Conservative leadership contender Boris Johnson. The No10 front-runner vowed to introduce a new government ministry for the welfare of ex forces personnel and end the unfair prosecutions of British troops in Northern Ireland.
Other big names backing our campaign include Judge Rob Rinder, ex-SAS soldier Ant Middleton and Coronation Street’s Kym Marsh.
