Justice has finally caught up with a man who killed his boss in 1986.

Malaysian labourer Arumugam Veerasamy had escaped the law all these years after Singapore officials misspelled his name on a warrant, according to local reports.

He had killed his employer Muthiah Kutha Lingam, 43, after hitting him over the head with a hammer when they got into a dispute over unpaid wages.

He was apparently told he would have to wait longer for his money while out drinking with his boss and was not happy about it.

Veerasamy, who was 28 when he killed Ligham, managed to evade police because they copied a wrong spelling of his name from his Singapore work permit to the arrest warrant.

Due to advancements in technology, Veerasamy was linked to the crime in 2006 through fingerprints found on a beer bottle at the murder scene.

Veerasamy was finally arrested in 2016 at the age of 61 when crossing into Singapore from Malaysia.

He was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison by a Singapore court after pleading guilty to culpable homicide.

Veerasamy, who left his boss on the ground, claimed he was unaware he had died and therefore did not know authorities were looking for him.

He had returned to Malaysia following the attack.
