Man strangles, tries to rape girlfriend over breakup
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man who pulled a gun on his girlfriend and tried to rape her has been sentenced to 6 years in prison.
Juan Perales Jr.’s girlfriend broke up with him in December of 2018 at a hotel in Washington County, according to prosecutors.
Perales pulled a gun on her, forced her to the bed, strangled her and tried to rape her.
Security called the room twice after hearing the woman’s screams.
She managed to escape during the second call. Perales chased after her, put her in a headlock and tried to drag her back into the room but he had been locked out.
Beaverton Police arrived and arrested Perales.
Perales was convicted in June of 1st-degree sexual abuse, 4th-degree assault constituting domestic violence, strangulation and menacing constituting domestic violence.
He was sentenced Thursday to 75 months in prison.
